ABOUT US
We support underrepresented emerging artists through safe spaces, mentorship, and tailored programs that nurture artistic vision and personal leadership. At MINO, the creative journey is as important as the final work, with collaboration, experimentation, and learning at the heart of everything we do.
More than a space, MINO is a movement: we challenge conventional structures, amplify diverse voices, and build an inclusive cultural ecosystem where artists can thrive and make an impact.
MINO WARRIORS
The name MINO comes from the Dahomey Amazons, also called Minon, meaning “our mothers” in Fon. This all-female militia defended the Kingdom of Dahomey (now Benin) from 1650 to 1890, standing for unity, strength, and the preservation of their heritage. The last surviving Mino warrior, Mawi, passed away in 1979, but their legacy lives on as a symbol of female empowerment. We draw inspiration from their courage, resilience, and resistance against dominant powers.
